William Norwood "Bill" Harrell Sr., age 86 of Burgaw, died peacefully at Autumn Care in Wilmington on Sunday July 21, 2013 with family and friends by his side.

He was born November 6, 1926 in Pender County, the son of the late James Tyson and Daisy Sumner Harrell. He was also predeceased by his wives, Dorothy McPherson Harrell and Della Williams Harrell.

Bill was a veteran of WWII having served honorably in the US Navy. He was a lifelong member of Burgaw Baptist Church, a member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge 138 AF & AM and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and through his faith, he was friend to so many and touched their lives in a caring and meaningful way.

He is survived by two sons, William Norwood Harrell Jr. and Jimbo Harrell and wife Lorraine all of Charlotte; a daughter Jane Dodd of Wilmington; a stepson Bruce Williams and wife Cheryle of Burgaw; and a stepdaughter Donna Howard and husband Greg of Raleigh; Eight grandchildren, Haiden Dodd, Tyson Dodd, Duffy Suhr, Paige Harrell, Reilly Suhr, Catherine Harrell, Franklin Harrell, and Jon Harrell; many loving Great grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Miriam Gaylor of Burgaw, and Emily Streit of Houston TX; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday July 24, 2013 at Burgaw Baptist Church. Reverend Nathan Morton will officiate. Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the US Navy, along with Masonic rites by King Solomon Lodge.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service.
