Welburn Ezzell "Boots" Hinson, age 89 of Burgaw, passed away peacefully, Wednesday October 10, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

He was born November 1, 1928 in Kershaw County, SC, son of the late Charlie and Estelle Hopkins Hinson.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Hinson and wife Beth of Wilmington, Daniel Hinson and wife Carol of Burgaw; grandchildren, Nicholas Hinson, Patrick & Dalyn Smith and Kevin & Rebecca Smith, Leanna Clark, Meredith and Ashley Dupalevich; great grandchildren, Reagan, Brantley, Ryanne and Hallie Smith; a brother, Homer Hinson of Camden, SC and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Rhodes Hinson; brothers, C. L. Hinson and William Hinson; and sisters, Mary Alice McCaskill and Mildred Maness.

Boots retired from Sumter Builders after working 49 years. He worked his way through the ranks and became Superintendent over Eastern North Carolina. He was a member of Stag Park and Burgaw Hunting Club for many years. He loved to deer hunt, fox hunt, fish and be outside. Boots was a charter member of Westview United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends, Friday October 12, 2018 at Harrell's Funeral Home from 6-7:30pm.

Funeral services will be Saturday October 13, 2018 at Westview UMC at 1:00pm. Pastor Fred Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
