Steven Thomas Hallenbeck, age 69 of Rocky Point passed peacefully Thursday March 21, 2024 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 12, 1954 in Suffolk County MA, son of the late Robert and Doris Hallenbeck.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Hallenbeck; his aunt, Karlene Airey; cousins John Boyd, Laura Nobles, Ben Boyd, Shirley Hickman, Debbie Collins; and many other cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by cousins, Wendy Boyd and "Corky" Hickman; his aunt, Barbara Hickman, and his beloved kitty "Iris".

Steve enjoyed working in the yard, loved being outside, and was fond of animals. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evening, drinking a beer and waving to neighbors as they passed by. Steve would walk around the neighborhood every day to speak with friends.

He and his wife lived in Latham NY, Raleigh NC, Buckeye AZ, and Lancaster CA, before moving to Rocky Point for their retirement. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle, and he and his wife spent many weekends exploring every corner of Arizona during their residence there.

Steve had a unique sense of humor, even to his final day, always trying to lighten everyone's mood. He was known as a helpful and hard-working friend and employee.

Steve had a variety of employment experiences over the course of his career. He worked in a cemetery; in radio production; as a CDL driver delivering heavy commercial construction materials; and in municipal public works, where he was employed in every department.

A gathering of family and friends at Harrell's Funeral Home will be held on Sun April 7, 2024 at 2PM.
