Sheila Nadine Lanier Herring, age 82 of Burgaw, passed peacefully Sunday August 28, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 21, 1940 in Pender County daughter of the late Amos and Hattie Lanier.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Morris Herring; three sons, John Herring and wife Lisa of Watha, Aaron Herring and wife Cathy of Rincon GA, and Dean Herring and wife Susan of Burgaw; five grandchildren, Kristian Herring Watts, Brittany and Brandon Herring, Cory Herring, and Sydney Holland; eight great grandchildren, Kace Watts, Osheron Garven, Lilly Herring, Levi Herring, Leo Herring, Stratton Holland, Kenny Holland, and Reagan Holland; a sister, Thelma Smith of MD; and many nieces and nephews.

Sheila was owner and operator of Sheila's Upholstery for over 49 years. She was kindhearted and was a caregiver to many in the community. Sheila was very active in Westview United Methodist Church. Above all she was a loving grandmother, mother and wife.

A gathering of friends and family will be at 11:00am to 12:30pm with lunch served afterwards Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Westview United Methodist Church.
