Sarah Marshburn Smith age 90 of Burgaw, passed peacefully Sunday September 12, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Whiteville.

She was born November 5, 1930 in Pender County, daughter of the late Walter James Marhsburn and Sallie Gurganus Marshburn. She is also predeceased by two brothers, Walter James Marshburn Jr. and Ashley Marshburn; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Stalcup, Catherine Davis and Hildreth Jeffries.

Sarah graduated from Burgaw High School in May, 1949 and she attended Campbell College. Sarah was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey. She lived in New Jersey and worked for LTV Steel where she retired and moved back to Burgaw after her mom died. She lived in the same house where she was born. After moving back to Burgaw she worked for White Tractor Company for about 8 years. She was a model employee and was a joy to work with. She retired a second time due to health problem.

Sarah was a kind and loving friend with a dry sense of humor. She also had a great memory- and she didn't forget a thing.

Funeral services will be at 3:00PM Wednesday September 15, 2021 at Burgaw Baptist Church. Reverend Danny Justice and Reverend Tom Canady will officiate. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.

Her friends would like to thank the staff of Pender Memorial Hospital and Lower Cape Fear Life Care for their special care of Sarah.
