Patricia Cox Rhoades, age 68 of Burgaw, passed peacefully at home Saturday March 9, 2024.

She was born in Georgia on July 13, 1955 daughter of the late Ray and Jacqueline Cox.

She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Scott Rhoades; two sons, Kyle Smith and wife Beth of Surf City and Clifton Smith and wife Heather of Burgaw; daughter, Crystal Smith and Brent Newton of Burgaw; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Marsha Schwinn and husband Frank of Wilmington and Judy Wells of Castle Hayne; and many nieces and nephews; and her extended Pennsylvania family.

Patricia loved the beach, enjoyed strolling on the sand and sunbathing. She referred to herself as a mermaid because she loved the ocean. She liked NASCAR racing and her favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson. She enjoyed watching NFL football. Patricia loved fishing with her husband Scott. She wholeheartedly loved her grandchildren. Patricia and Scott enjoyed judging dogs at Double N Fox Pen and loved her Double N family.

The family will have a private viewing and visitation. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
