Norma Murray Swann, age 91 of Burgaw, went to be with the Lord, Thursday December 17, 2020 at the Laurels of Pender.

She was born November 4, 1929 in Bladen County, daughter of the late Finnie and Lula Rooks Murray.

She is survived by two daughters, June Swann of Burgaw and Margaret Smith of Oxford OH; three grandchildren, Sara Smith, Susanna Smith, and David Smith; a sister, Helen Bordeaux and husband Hubert of Wilmington; a brother, Finny Ardrey Murray and wife Deborah of Leicester; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Clyde Swann; two sisters, Elizabeth Harmon and Zelma Thomasson; and a brother Carl Elwood Murray.

Norma received her bachelor's degree from Meredith College. She became an elementary school teacher and taught in Pender County for twenty seven years. Norma was very active at Mt. Holly Baptist Church. She led the choir and played organ there all of her adult life. After retirement she took art classes and enjoyed oil painting. She loved growing camellias, roses, and irises and planting flowers in her yard. Norma felt all children were precious and dearly loved her students.

Private graveside services due to covid virus  will be  Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Mt. Holly Baptist Church Cemetery.
