Myrtle Mae Douglas Frye, age 95 of Wallace passed away peacefully at home Tuesday February 7, 2017. She was born February 22, 1921 in Duplin County, daughter of the late Walter and Lillian (Lilly) Giddens Douglas. She was also predeceased by her husband of 65 years, James Robert Frye.

She is survived by two sons James Garland Frye and wife Pat of Wallace and Michael Wayne Frye and wife Pat; four grandsons, Steven Wayne Frye and wife Marion, Craig Allen Frye and wife Yvette, James Aaron Frye, Andrew Ellery Frye and wife Jessica; six great grandchildren, Mitchell, Brady, Mackinzie, Kim, Nikie & baby boy Frye; two sisters, Ruby Bozevich and husband George and Mattie Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.

Myrtle graduated from Hyattsville High School Md. in 1939. She worked at National Geographic as chief correspondence editor and the University of Maryland as secretary for the Secretary of Agriculture of the State of Maryland, retiring in 1967. Myrtle then worked as assistant Clerk of Superior Court for Pender County for 15 Years. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Devoted Member of the Penderlea Baptist Church and held many Offices in the Church. Myrtle enjoyed creative Writing and reading, knitting & crochet. She always enjoyed going to the beach and vacations with her family. Myrtle loved her grandchildren and always instilled in them the Love of God, Honesty and Loyalty.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday February 9, 2017 at Riverview Memorial Park. Reverend John Sellers will officiate.
