Miriam Harrell Gaylor, age 98 of Burgaw, went to be with her Lord and Savior,Tuesday June 19, 2018 at The Laurels of Pender.

Miriam was born in Burgaw on July 29, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Tyson and Daisy Harrell.  She was the wife of the late Fred Gaylor.

She is survived by her son Steve Gaylor and wife, Angie of Burgaw; two grandchildren, Wes of Lillington and Alyssa of Wilmington; and sister Emily Streip, of Houston TX.  She is preceded in death by two sons, Freddie Gaylor and Ronnie Gaylor; her brothers William and Carlton Harrell, and a sister Evelyn Dowdell.

Miriam was a devoted Christian woman and a longtime member of Burgaw Baptist Church. She attended Elon College.  She was a busy homemaker and later she had her own business as a beautician. She worked at Head Start for 20 years before retiring. Miriam was a strong-willed person who enjoyed talking to her friends and family.  She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved reading, bird watching, gardening, and working crossword puzzles.

Funeral services will be at 4:00PM Sunday June 24, 2018 at Burgaw Baptist Church. Reverend Tom Canady will officiate. The family will receive friends at 3:00PM in the church fellowship hall.
