Martha Alice Casteen Boyette "Monk" age 87 of Burgaw, passed peacefully from her earthly home Tuesday February 2, 2016, to live in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Martha was born February 10, 1928 in Duplin County daughter of the late Joshua Wright Casteen and Eva Letchworth Casteen.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Karen Boyette Blanton; sisters Inez Hill and Etta Mae Lanier; a brother James Casteen; and a son in law Kenneth Ray Porter.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years William Earl Boyette; three daughters, Wanda Mercer (Jeff), Pam Padgett (Pete), and Felicia Boyette; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister Doris Richardson; and a son in law Ralph Blanton.
Martha was a faithful member of Burgaw Holiness Church for more than forty years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting, but most of all reading her Bible and talking to others about the Lord. She was a loving, caring, generous, selfless, humble woman, who loved her family and friends dearly and never complained about anything. She opened her heart to all.
The family will receive friends Thursday 6-7:30 PM at Harrell's Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday February 5, 2016 at Gateway Community Church 416 W. Bridgers St. Burgaw. Reverend Ted Mercer will officiate. Burial will follow in Herrings Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family sincerely thanks the entire staff of Pender Memorial Hospital for their loving kindness, help and support during her lengthy illness.
The family will also receive friends at the home of Pete and Pam Padgett 8349 NC Hwy 11 Willard.
