Mrs. Marion Barbour Lacer age 88, of Currie NC, died Monday August 13, 2012 at home. She was born October 27, 1923 in Tampa FL and was the daughter of the late Marjorie Van Tassell Barbour and Myron Wallace Barbour. She was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Sherman and twin daughters, Marion Marjorie and Mary Catherine.
Marion was married to her husband William Oliver Lacer for 70 years. They met in junior high school in Miami Beach FL in 1937 and were married in April 1942. She attended Miami Beach Sr. High School and the Walsh School of Business. She worked for the Corps of Engineers during WWII, and worked for the State of Florida for 25 years.
Marion and William lived in Boulder CO for 20 years after retiring. They loved hiking in the mountains, and traveled all over the world to places that include Russia, China, Nepal, Egypt and the five continents. They moved to Currie 2004 to be close to their children.
Marion was a member of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church and Fitness Fusion in Burgaw.
In addition to her husband William, she is survived by three sons, Brian Van Tassell, William Lacer Jr.(Sandra), and John Lacer (Nancy); two daughters, Kathleen Reid (Dan), and Barbara Tape (Kurt); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 10:30AM Saturday August 25, 2012 at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, Burgaw.
