Linda Sue Godwin Richards, age 76 of Burgaw, passed peacefully Tuesday June 23, 2026 at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born August 17, 1949 in Sampson County daughter of the late Gordon and Susie Godwin.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Franklin Richards; two sons, Adam Richards and wife Ann Sophia of Wilmington, and Matthew Richards and wife Shena of GA; two daughters, Desiree Manweller and husband Richard of Hampstead, and Noelle Richards of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; three brothers, Dexter Godwin and wife Beaté of Castle Hayne, and  Steven Godwin, and Robert Godwin both of Wilmington; two sisters, Patti Godwin, and Cheryl Skipper and husband Johnny all of Leland.

Linda enjoyed cross stitching and reading. She loved "sister day" and a full day of shopping with her siblings. Linda was a member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed working with children and VBS at church. She loved being a member of Woman's Missionary Union at church. Linda also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and the Gathers.

A celebration of life will be at 10:00 AM Friday June 26, 2026 at Riley's Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Art Sauer will officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Riley's Creek Baptist Church in her honor.
