Julia Catherine Mallard Andrews died October 4, 2012 at her home in Lumberton, NC.
She was born in October 31, 1943 and grew up as a true Burgaw girl. She was predeceased by her parents, Edith Marslender and Clinton Forrest Mallard, Jr. of Burgaw.
Julia graduated from Burgaw High School and attended East Carolina College (now ECU) in Greenville, where she majored in Home Economics. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and Elder and sang in the Chancel Choir at First Presbyterian Church in Lumberton. Julia was bestowed an Honorary Life Membership in Presbyterian Women.
Julia is survived by her husband, Randall Frank Andrews; her sons, Randall "Randy" F. Andrews, Jr. (wife Kate) of Laurel, Maryland and Charles David Andrews of Lumberton; two granddaughters, Maya and Clarice, also of Laurel, Maryland; sisters, Edith Mallard Cox (husband Henry) of Wilson, NC and Martha Mallard Daniel of Hampstead, NC.
Julia was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her time with her beloved grandchildren. She was a gracious Southern lady who will be remembered for her many kindnesses and love of her family and friends. She especially enjoyed watching Tar Heel basketball.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon from 3:00-5:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon at 3:00PM in the Burgaw Presbyterian Church, 200 East Fremont Street, Burgaw, NC, followed by interment in the Burgaw Cemetery. Reverend Doctor Ray Mendenhall will officiate. A service of Harrell's Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
