Judy Harker Benton, age 79 of Burgaw passed peacefully Tuesday September 1, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 15, 1946 in New Hanover County, daughter of the late Nathan and Gertrude King Harker. She was also predeceased by her special grandson, Jeremy Hubbard; sisters, Betty Justice and Bonnie Hughes; and brother, Tommy Harker.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Arland Benton; son, James McDuffie and wife Angel of Castle Hayne; two daughters, Sherry Jenkins and husband Mark of Wallace and Nancy Hubbard and husband Jeff of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Tanner, Callie, Matt, Jeffrey, and Gracie; a great grandchild, Kenzie; sister, Susie Sheppard and husband Robert; two brothers, Bobby Harker and wife Sylvia, and Albert Harker and wife Pat; and many nieces and nephews.

Judy enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She also liked to paint crafts and make flower arrangements. In her younger days she enjoyed working in her yard. Most of all she had a big heart and loved her family and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 10:00am.Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am Saturday September 5, 2026 at Harrell’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ben Horrell will officiate and burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
