James Brian "Jimmy" Russell, age 65 of Atkinson, passed peacefully Monday December 18, 2023 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 28, 1958 in Wake County, son of the late Lee and Dorothy Ledwell Russell.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tracey Russell; son, Tyler Russell and wife Ariel of Atkinson; two daughters, Breanna Russell and Fiance, Cameron of Hallsboro, and Carmela Watts and husband Buddy of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Calie, Micah, Roman, Lea, and Avery; two brothers, Don Alligood and wife Dawn, and Glenn Russell and wife Amy; two sisters, Faith Trittle and Connie Boyette and husband Roland; and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was an accomplished brick mason for over 40 years. He liked to hunt and fish and loved to boat and fish with his son and grandson. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them cooking and hanging out. Jimmy enjoyed sports, mainly baseball and Carolina basketball.

A celebration of his life will be held in the near future.
