Ivey James "Jimmy" Blackburn Jr., age 68 of Burgaw, passed Friday April 12, 2024 in Pender County.

He was born August 2, 1955 in Pender County son of the late Ivey and Shirley Lanier Blackburn. He was also predeceased by his wife, Nancy Blackburn and sister, Shelia Cowan.

He is survived by three daughters, Megan Hanson and husband Bobby of GA, Lisa Burget and husband Cody of WA, and Kimberly Fisher of WA; six grandchildren, Lauren Ann, Dustin, Iris, Ares, Mavis, and Jami; a brother, Dean Blackburn and wife Patience of SC; a sister, Brenda Wurtz of NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved being outside. His favorite time of day was day brake which he enjoyed with a diet Mountain Dew in his hand. Jimmy had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening which he learned from his grandparents. At the end of the day he enjoyed being in his recliner watching Westerns. Jimmy had a sweet tooth and made great pound cakes, and fig and strawberry jams.

The family will receive friends Friday at 2:00 PM Harrell's Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be at 3:00 PM Friday April 19, 2024 at Harrell's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Lenier Furr will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to NC Wildlife Resources Commission John E. Pechmann fishing education center in his name.
