Jim Henry Norris, age 86 of Currie, died Tuesday July 13, 2010 at his home. He was born April 12, 1924 in Johnston County son of the late George T. and Leona Baker Norris. He was also pre-deceased by six sisters, one brother, and one son-in-law, David Earl Bullard.
Mr. Norris retired in 1975 after 28 years with the NC Department of Transportation. He was a life long member of the Bear Branch Baptist Church in Currie. All who knew him would agree that his family meant everything to him. He was a man of many skills who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Mr. Norris is survived by Juanita, his loving wife of 62 years, five children Jim Norris, Jr. and wife Wanda, Minnie Bullard, Diana Maready and husband Albert, Carl Norris and wife Wanda C., Sheila Whitley and husband Glen, 16 grand children and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother George L. Norris; Crosby Norris, Margaret Norris, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday July 15, 2010 at Harrell's Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Chris Wroten and The Reverend Harold Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 Wednesday July 14 at Harrell's Funeral Home. Friends are welcome at the family home at other times.
