Jerry Daniel Autry Sr., age 87 of Burgaw, NC passed away due to natural causes on July 20, 2024 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Jerry was the son of the late Lincoln Autry and Vila Autry born July 2, 1937, Craven County, New Bern, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Taylor Autry of 68 years, his son, Jerry D. Autry Jr and wife, Sharon of North Topsail Beach; one sister Fonda Crumpler of Steadman,  and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry loved singing and was a choir member of Burgaw United Methodist Church. He sang in Wilmington barbershop chorus, Cape Fear Cordesman for many years.  He was an avid self-taught painter of landscapes, seascapes and lighthouses. Jerry also wrote many articles that were printed in the Burgaw paper; one was titled "God was having a good day when he made Burgaw and its people."

A memorial service will be held July 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at Burgaw United Methodist Church. Reverend Matthew Hayes will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Burgaw United Methodist Church.
