James Marshall "Jimmy" Jones, age 70 of Ivanhoe, passed peacefully at home Saturday March 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 30, 1951 in Duplin County, son of the late Claudie Jones and Carrie Gurganious.

He is survived by his daughters, Kristol Allen and husband Scott of Benson, and Karla Walker and husband Jeff of Pekin, IL; five grandchildren, Breanna Cochran (Kam), Ashlynn Walker, Keri Walker, Logan Allen, and Anna Walker; two great grandchildren, Marcel Cochran and Willow Hoyle; a sister, Jean Gurganious of Willard; mother of his children, Brenda Staley of Wilmington; a special friend, Frances Arnette; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a great grandson, Steven Paul Johnson; brothers and sisters, Gordon "Buddy" Hall, Carrie Grace Hall, Bobby Dean Hall, Joyce Hall Kelly, Allen Hall, Ronald Jones, and Joan Pickett.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 am Thursday (one hour prior to service) at the church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm Thursday March 10, 2022 at Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Jack Melvin will officiate.

Jimmy loved his family and church family. He was a member of Rose Hill Pentecostal FWB Church where he was known as the peppermint man. Jimmy worked at J P Stevens Co. until his retirement. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, motorcycles, and playing pool. He loved animals, and his dog Lillie Girl. Jimmy never complained and always had a smile.
