James Daniel Hunt, age 90 of Currie and formerly of Kentucky, passed peacefully Sunday February 9, 2020 at Peak Resources, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 28, 1929 in Muhlenburg County KY, son of the late Ernest and Ila Hunt. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary DeArmond Hunt and son James D. Hunt Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Regina Hunt Norris and husband William Carl of Currie; son David M. Hunt and wife Wanda of Russellville KY; five grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, and Jonathan Bradshaw, and Dianna and Mathew Hunt; five great grandchildren, Christopher James, Bailey Grace, and Seth Daniel Bradshaw, and Daniel and Elizabeth Ann Hunt; sisters Dora Faske and Dawn Cumens of KY; brother Dale G. Hunt and wife Roy of SC; and many nieces and nephews.

James was a lifelong Fire Fighter retiring as a Captain after 30 years. He was an avid musician, known for his fiddle playing. He and his band played at the Grand Ole Opry, in the same show as his hero, Bill Monroe.

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Thursday February 13, 2020 in Lewisburg, Ky. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the New Hebron Cemetery, Dunmor KY. Reverend Reginia Hunt will officiate.
