James Richard George, age 73 of Burgaw, passed peacefully Saturday May 22, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 2, 1947 in Amarillo, TX son of the late James Harmon George and Clair Canty George.

He is survived by his wife, Julie George of Burgaw; two brothers, Dan George and wife Kathie of Gainesville, Ga and Jay George and wife Gretchen of Boston MA; a sister, Janice St. John and husband Arthur of Narragansett, RI and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was an award winning bird carver. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy having served honorably in the Vietnam War.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday June 5, 2021 at Harrell's Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Mark Murphy will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service at Burgaw Methodist Church fellowship hall.
