Jacquelyn Loyd Ely age 79 of Burgaw, died Sunday September 12, 2010 at home after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis and a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born August 14, 1931 in Wilmington daughter of the late Francis and Margarette Bishop Loyd.
She was an active Sunday school teacher, a den mother and leader of ladies organizations. She and her husband Ron were high school sweethearts.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Ron R. Ely; two sons R. Steve Ely and wife Sharon of Carolina Beach, Ray Ely and wife Debbie of Charleston SC; two grandchildren, Rachel Stainback and husband Steven of Monks Corner SC, Jessica Struble and husband Scott of Jersey City, NJ; one great-grandchild Griffin Stainback; a sister Frances Bryant of Denver, NC; and a favorite niece Brenda Harris of Burgaw.
Funeral services will be at 10:00AM Thursday September 16, 2010at Harrell's Funeral Home Chapel (coat and tie are not expected). Reverend Ronald Ely will officiate. An additional graveside service will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington.
The family will receive friends anytime at the home.
