Hildred Ramsey Porter, age 94 of Burgaw, died Friday November 23, 2012 at North Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 31, 1918 in Duplin County daughter of the late George Albert Ramsey and Lena James Merritt Ramsey. She was also predeceased by her husband John Porter, a brother, Herbert Ramsey, and sisters Mary T. Ramsey, Evelyn Ramsey Meissner, and Ethel Ramsey Deal.
Mrs. Porter is survived by three sons, Jay Porter and wife Ann of Currie, David Porter of Rocky Point, and George Alex Porter of Castle Hayne; three grandchildren, Brent Newton, Kristie Porter, and James Porter; and two great-grandchildren, Breanna Newton and Savannah Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Porter was an avid gardener with her son's garden being a great source of pride. She particularly liked growing flowers and giving them to friends and family.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM Monday November 26, 2012 at the Moores Creek Baptist Church in Currie. The Reverend Phil Eakins will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Porter Family Cemetery on Porter Road.
