Gerald Dixon Morton, age 91 of Burgaw went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday May 15, 2024 at Lower Cape Life Care surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 30, 1933 in Duplin County, son of the late Rodolph and Matilda Morton. He was also predeceased by sisters, Elsie James and Elizabeth Morton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Naomi Morton; sons, Andrew Morton and wife Mary of Elm City and Nathan Morton and wife Heather of Alexis; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Melanie, Nathan, Samuel and Cameron; and two great grandchildren.

He served honorably in the United States Army being stationed in Germany and France during the Korean Conflict. His Career spanned 50 years in the grocery industry which he loved. He said one of the worst days of his life was the day he retired. He served his Lord as Deacon, Lay Pastor, Sunday School teacher and visitation minister for several rest homes. He faithfully served at Penile PFWB, King's Chapel, Grace Baptist, and for the last 14 years at Burgaw Baptist.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday May 18, 2024 at Burgaw Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church fellowship hall. Reverend Danny Justice, Reverend Doctor Nathan Morton and Andrew Morton will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in Cedar Fork Cemetery in Beulaville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Burgaw Baptist Church.
