Obituary

Georgene Adams Champion, age 49 of Rocky Point, died Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center. She was born November 14, 1963 in New Hanover County daughter of George J. and Shirley Capps Adams. Georgene was a beautician in the area for over twenty years with many loyal customers. She was a member of Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church. She dearly loved her family and her dog sparky.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Ashley Champion, her grandparents Oscar and Margaret Capps and George Sr. and Anna Adams, also by her aunts Ann Capps, Francis Ward, Janet Adams, and Mary Hutchinson, her uncles Homer Ward, Tom Adams and Jim Hutchinson.
She is survived by in addition to her parents, her daughter, Christine Rebecca Champion and husband Travis Wiley of Wilmington; a stepson Todd Champion and wife Ashley of Wilmington; a brother, Oscar Curtis Adams and wife Ann of Wilmington; two sisters, Cindy "Margaret Sue" Adams and husband Mike Aldredge of Wilmington, and Patricia Walk and husband Rich of Rocky Point; Nieces, Tammy Adams of Wilmington, and Mandi Adams of Ponca City, OK and Amber Adams of Ponca City, OK; her uncles; Tom Capps and wife Dee of Wilmington, Bill Capps of Wilmington, and Jimmy Adams of Mechanicsburg, PA; and her aunts, Faye Cuttingham and Ann Marie Marsh of Harrisburg, PA.
Georgene has gone to take her eternal resting place in Heaven. Her beloved daughter Ashley welcomed her with open arms & she most likely was returned a slight giggle. She was a beautiful woman who was always laughing & smiling. To know her, was to know her laugh, it was infectious. She & her youngest daughter Chrissy were as close as a Mother & Daughter could be and share a bond that no distance can touch. She held a special & unique relationship with both of her sisters and her Mother, they were more than just family, they were each other's best friends. She was the baby of her family and will always hold a special place in her parent's hearts as such. Though her battle was hard & the road rough, with her Mother a constant by her side, she always kept her sense of humor. In good times & bad, laughter was a medicine for which no prescription was ever needed. Her family remained by her side throughout her struggle and is comforted by the knowledge that they will all see each other again one day. So as we always say, this is not good-bye, this is see you later!
A celebration of her life will be Sunday April 21 at 11am at Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church. Reverend J.C. Young-Thompson will officiate.

The family gives special thanks to Betty Ferguson & the entire staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice &v Life Care Center, you were all truly a blessing.
