Obituary

George Whitfield Rawls, 69, of Kelly, NC died peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Hospice on July 26, 2018. Mr. Rawls was born February 17, 1949 to his parents George William and Elsie Tart Rawls in Wilmington, NC.

Mr. Rawls graduated from Atkinson High School, James Sprunt Institute and Methodist College. He was a farmer in Bladen County throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of Centerville Baptist Church where he was a faithful teacher of Men's II Sunday School Class. A humble man, George was blessed with a keen mind, an endearing sense of humor and a heart that loved Jesus.

He is survived by his wife, Bettyann Rawls, his brother, William Rawls, his half-brother, Jon Suttle (Becky) and his son Whit Rawls (Lauren) and grandson Claude Rawls.   Other survivors include Bettyann's daughters, Carrilee Monroe (Michael)and Mary Anne Mincher; son, Rob Goslee (Linda); grandchildren, Lauren, Weston and Julia Monroe; Jonathan and Dillon Mincher; Mason(Meghan), Rachel, and Carson (Madison) Goslee; many beloved cousins and a special friend, Scott Rose.

Visitation will be held at Centerville Baptist Church on July 29 at two o'clock followed by a funeral service at three o'clock. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Wade. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
