Ernest Frank Yott Jr. (Pop) of Rocky Point , has gone to be with our God in Heaven on March 6, 2015. Pop was born on March 11, 1932 in Chicago, Ill. to Ernest & Gertrude Bednarowicz Yott.
Pop came to NC in the 1950's to serve in the Korean War as a US marine. He was stationed at Camp Lujeune. During this time he met his beloved wife Dorothy (Dot) of 63 1/2 years.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald, Francis, & Jearld, his sister Edith; children Ernest (sleepy), David (wolf),& Charles.


Pop is survived by his wife; his remaining children Dennis & Beth Yott, Donna & Dennis Johnson, all from Rocky Point, Kathleen (Kathy) & Jim Byrd; and his grandchildren Jennifer & Jim Jr.; his great granddaughter Ava, all from Coats; many nieces and nephews; and other family members; and his beloved pets tiger, pumpkin and peppy.

Pop was retired from Godwin Oil Company. He served on the board of directors for Legal Services of the Lower Cape Fear for many years. He was an avid fisherman.
Graveside services will be at 11:00am Wednesday March 11, 2015 at Wilmington National Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be Tuesday 7-8:00pm at Harrell's Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:30pm.


The family would like to thank his doctors. M. Miller, M. Murphy, B. Legere, and F. Pecoraro, the nurses from Pender Memorial Hospital, North Chase Rehab and Nursing Care , Assisted Care & the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center for all that they have done thru this lengthy illness.
