Dorothy Whitley Childers, age 75 of Atkinson passed peacefully Tuesday February 2, 2021 at home.

She was born February 8, 1945 in Johnston County daughter of the late Joseph and Edna Mitchell Whitley. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Horrell, brother, Billy Whitley, and sister, Josephine Wiggins.

She is survived by a daughter, Rendy Massey and husband Donnie Jr. of Atkinson; a son, William Childers and wife Amanda of Atkinson; 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Amy, James, Daryl, Whitley, Forrestt, and Brooke; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Whitley and wife Olivia Russell of Selma; son-n-law, Timmy Horrell; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy loved her family dearly and lived a long joyful life. She enjoyed animals and wildlife of all kinds and enjoyed feeding them all. Dorothy was a mother and father to her children and many others and was called "Granny Granny" by them all. She loved to cook and fed anyone that came to her house.
