Mr. Clair Albert Luce, of Burgaw, passed away peacefully at the age of 70, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington. Clair passed away the morning of March 18, 2021.
Clair is survived by his loving son(s); Lance and wife Dawn Luce of Burgaw, NC; Jason Howard Luce of Leroy, NY; and Christina Luce; kids: Morgan (MoMo), Aaric, and John Mashicano, and son Lucas of Wilmington, NC; and Aunt Pat and Uncle Doug Chard of Canada. He is Grandpa to five grandchildren: Breeann Hayes(mother Lora Ashby), and husband Josh; Morgan and Aaric Luce, Amanda Nelson, and Lucas Marciano. His 12 great grandchildren –Abagail, Christopher, Jaxon, Jade, Montana, Christopher, Morgan, Denver, Hunter, Nevada, Cody, and Shyann. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Joanne E. Luce.
Clair Albert Luce was born in the town of Fillmore in Allegany County, NY. Son of Late Ransseler Howard Luce (Tink) and Elisabeth Rose (Libby) Luce. Brother to: Rosanne Saulter of NY; and Ronald and Ardean Luce. Clair leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. The family lived in Oramel, New York. Clair went on to get his Masters in Engineering and worked 51 years in that field. He worked 13 of those years at Bradford Products in Leland, North Carolina; where he designed numerous pools and spas.
He was an avid member of his church: Calvary Chapel Comm. Church of St. Helena. He loved his church family and pastor Tony Fontana, and wife Cindy Faulk Fontana. He was an avid bow hunter, and a member of the Pope Young Club, the Cape Fear Bow Hunter Association, NCBA, and the NRA. He was treasury for the Cape Fear Bow Hunters. Clair enjoyed his free time with his wife Joanne. They attended the Dixie Deer Classic every year in Raleigh, where he scored horns for Pope Young. In addition to spending time with his wife, he also loved spending time hunting, fishing, and golfing; with the boys, the grandchildren and the great grandchildren.
As an active NCBA member, Clair taught classes for handicap or injured soldiers and children, of all ages, based on the fundamentals of bow shooting, hunting, and how to handle equipment safely. Close friends: Perry Adkins (deceased), Micky Strater, Bobby Cowan, Keith Smith, and many others, helped with this project every year. Mr. Luce's family would like to acknowledge his lifelong friends such as: Jimmy Miller, Bobby Cowan and Wendy, Micky and Minnette Strater, Richard Nichols (deceased), and Bill Fox. Clair and Joanne Luce loved their children, their grandchildren , and of course their great grandchildren. They are, our most precious memories.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday March 28, 2021 at Calvary Chapel Community Church 2265 Hwy 117 S. Burgaw. In lieu of flowers please make donations to LCF Hospice.
