Charles Robin Hughes, age 91 of Burgaw passed peacefully Friday February 4, 2022 at Vidant Duplin Hospital.

He was born December 28, 1930 in New Hanover County son of the late Edward and Maggie Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Henderson Hughes; three daughters, Donna Hughes of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sharon Hughes and Karen Hughes both of Warsaw; two sons, Carlton Hughes of Newton Grove, and Brian Hughes of Arlington TX; a sister, Margaret Hutchinson of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Master Sargent after serving honorably for twenty six years in the United States Army. He was a Past Master of the King Solomon Lodge 138 AF and AM. Charles was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple and a 32 ^nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Pender County Shrine Club. Charles was a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Golden Rod chapter 142.

The family will receive friends Monday 6-7:00 PM at Harrell's funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday February 8, 2022 at Harrell's Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Danny Justice will officiate. Masonic rites will be accorded by King Solomons Lodge. Burial will be at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery and military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
