Alvis Ray Lanier, age 78 of Burgaw, passed away Wednesday October 10, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 9, 1940 in Onslow County, son of the late Albert and Eva Bryant Lanier.

He is survived by his wife, Joann Fulcher Murray Lanier; two sons, Dennis Ray Lanier of San Antonio TX and Bobby Ray Lanier of Onslow County; a daughter, Cynthia Lynn Lanier of Onslow County; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Barnett of Denver Co; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray loved to help people, especially the elderly. He was a very caring and giving person. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his life and loved to run all types of machinery.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM Sunday October 14, 2018 at Harrell's Funeral Home. Reverend Tom Canady and Reverend Lonnie Bryant will officiate.

The family would like to thank his special friends, Tommy Zandy, Reverend Tom Canady and Bob Connelly for their special treatment of Ray and special family members, Becky and William Ward for their loving care.
