Obituary

Alice Faye Mozingo McLendon, age 80 of Burgaw, passed peacefully at home Thursday May 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 14, 1944 in Pender County daughter of the late Morris and Canary Carter Mozingo. She was also predeceased by her husband Wayne McLendon.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Wayne McLendon and wife Lynn, Robert Keith McLendon, and Charles Morris McLendon and wife Myranda all of Burgaw; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Patsy Blake and husband Tommy of Burgaw; brother, Kenneth Mozingo and wife Kathy of IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Alice loved to fish and had many fishing trips with her husband and family. She was a good seamstress and enjoyed painting. She was a good cook and enjoyed picking up sea shells, and feeding and watching birds at home. Alice was best known as the "Peanut Lady" and she and her family have grown peanuts for many years.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday May 26, 2024 at Pike Creek Cemetery. Reverend John Fedoronko will officiate and burial will follow. There will be a private family visitation.

Memorial donations can be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
