Alfred Whitfield Wells, age 73 of Delco, passed peacefully at home Sunday May 15, 2022.

He was born April 30, 1949 in New Hanover County, son of the late Clyde Whitfield Wells and Ethel Smith Wells. He was also predeceased by a brother, Doug Wells and a sister, Shelia Wells.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Wells; a son, John Whitfield Wells of SD; two stepsons, Brian Fernandez and Albert Fernandez and wife Roni; three step grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Morgan and husband Monty of Anderson, SC and Loretta Cooke and husband Buddy of Delco; nephews and niece, David Johnson, Adam Johnson, Billy Clark and Alyssa Johnson.

Alfred served honorably in the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard. He worked at the Riegelwood paper mill, and as a truck driver retiring from the Hess Oil Corporation. Alfred grew up on the family farm in Delco. He enjoyed farming since birth and loved being around the farming industry.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-7:30 pm at Red Hill Pentecostal Church 1383 Byrdville-Freeman Rd. Delco.

Graveside services will be at 11am Thursday May 19, 2022 at Wells Family Cemetery 3389 Delco Prosper Rd, Delco. Burial will follow. Reverend Calvin Malpass will officiate.
